I’m a freelance travel journalist, photographer and painter based in Toronto, Canada. In 30 years, I’ve been fortunate to travel all over the world, from Botswana and Lebanon to Polynesia and Dubai, and meet a great many people.
My writing articles and photographing scenes and subjects led several years ago to my starting to paint. Although I didn’t recognize it at the time, painting was and is a key part of my creative evolution. My paintings are non-representational and I work mainly in oils on canvas.
Travel and photography inform my painting - the memory of a place or a face or special moment coming back to me on canvas in ways I never could have imagined. As with writing and photography, I love to explore the possibilities of colour and texture, of layering and shadows.
My travels have given me knowledge and hopefully, some insight. They also provide diverse, constantly changing subject matter for the camera, the canvas and the written word.
